Central in this living & working space created for the expermimental artist Imi Knoebel, we set eyes on some huge structures in fibreboard, inspired by Room 19 of the hand of the artist. The living functions are nestled in these structures. The essence of the living space is to live into the artwork. The space becomes more intimate as we forward the room. Close to the gate there is the working zone, as we walk further there is the more private living area.
I was energized by the artwork of Imi Knoebel and made my own work by using his vocabulary. I created a lot of playful collages. For me they result in a serie of colourful, organic and puristic images. The collage becomes a piece of furniture and the furniture becomes itself architecture. The expermimental, vital and the formal way of making and resulting is a wink to the work of Imi Knoebel. I did my best to find a balance between Imi and me, a balance between playful and practical design, and a balance between living and working.
