Nieuwe vormen van ruimtelijkheid
This project is an open work that is only completed by the activity of the spectator. There is room for the visitor’s own interpretation and participation.
Space, spaciousness and the essence of spaciousness were explored. I tried to find a balance between inside and outside, between the other inside and the other outside. The added shapes offer a separation between sky and earth and suggest a tension of openness or closeness. The sculptural bodies interact with the surrounding visual art landscape of the Middelheimmuseum in Antwerp.
The surface of the spatial elements was covered to transform them into something that transcends surface and material. Reflections are created by the aluminum work. This causes a layered color that varies in intensity.
The sculptural bodies are the result of many collages. They are separate elements, unlimited and flowing as an extra layer in the park. They are dynamic and free in shape, dimensions and properties. New appearances, new forms and a new atmosphere were created with attention to the harmony of the existing art landscape.
